An artist paints the rainbow after the rain

Your child can discover how the raindrops sparkle on the leaves, how the clouds slowly drift away, and how carefully the artist guides his brush. Maybe his hat will get a funny color, or perhaps his smock already has a few paint splatters on it—after all, for an artist, they are almost part of the work clothes. The grass, puddles, sky, and palette are all waiting to be decorated to their heart’s content too.

Rainbow colors for a wonderfully colorful idea

Classic red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and violet go beautifully together for the rainbow. The clouds, on the other hand, can be light gray, white, or even soft blue. After the rain, the sky may still be a little dark blue while sunny yellow is already peeking through the clouds. The rainbow could be reflected in the puddles—that looks especially magical.

Perhaps your child will color in a little story to go with it: Did the artist paint the rainbow himself, or did he simply trace over the colors to make it shine brightly again? You can download this coloring page for free and print it at home on A4 paper. Then all you need are colored pencils, crayons, or felt-tip pens and a cozy spot at the table.
