Butterfly hovering over a pond coloring page
Welcome to a little break by the water: on this coloring page, a delicate butterfly dances above a still pond. Perhaps it has just spotted a water lily or is searching for an especially fragrant little flower on the shore. This design combines the lightness of a fluttering butterfly with the peaceful world of water – a lovely mix for cozy coloring time at the kitchen table. Your child can fill the large wings with patterns and colors, make the water’s surface sparkle, and add their own plants around the pond’s edge. A little frog can hide among the reeds, leaves, and blossoms too, if their imagination feels like it. And who says butterflies can only have yellow or orange wings? Maybe not today.

Butterfly hovering over a pond
A colorful pond story to color
Bright colors such as sunny yellow, sky blue, pink, or purple are especially lovely for the butterfly. Its wings can look the same on both sides – or completely different, because anything goes in this pond world. The water looks cheerful in light blue and turquoise, while water lily leaves come wonderfully to life in different shades of green. A yellow dot on the water can even create a little glint of sunshine. Perhaps while coloring, you can tell a story about the butterfly looking for its reflection in the pond and meeting a curious dragonfly along the way. This gives every colored picture its own little story. You can download this coloring page for free and print it at home on A4 paper. Then all you need are colored pencils, crayons, or felt-tip pens, plus a little space for colorful pond dreams.
