The Busy Desert Rat and Her Secret Tunnel
This picture is just right for all the little explorers who love to look closely. Kids can color in the rat's quick little paws, her curious snout, the little mounds of sand piling up as she digs, and of course the tunnel itself, winding mysteriously into the depths. The desert sky above and a few scattered pebbles are also waiting to be colored.
Coloring Idea: Sand in All Its Shades
For the sand, it's worth using more than just one yellow - try mixing in beige, ochre, and a touch of orange to really bring the desert to life. The desert rat herself can shine in warm brown tones, with a lighter belly and darker ears for extra depth. If you like, tell your child a little story while coloring: maybe the rat is digging her way to her family, or looking for a cool, shady spot to escape the midday heat.
You can download this picture for free and easily print it at home on a regular A4 sheet of paper. All you need then are crayons or colored pencils, a cozy spot at the table, and the coloring fun can begin.
