Sculptor Sketching an Idea in Front of the Stone Block Coloring Page
So glad you stopped by! This coloring page shows a sculptor standing focused in front of a mighty block of stone, working out her sketch. In her hand she holds paper and pencil, and in her mind she already carries the finished statue. A motif that shows how every great work begins with a small idea on paper, just like coloring itself.

Great art begins with an idea: the sculptor in front of the stone block
There's plenty for your kids to discover here: the rough, still unworked stone block, the tools on the ground, the artist's clothing, and of course her thoughtful face. A motif like this invites children to imagine for themselves what might emerge from the stone. Maybe a lion, maybe an angel, it's entirely up to the imagination at the coloring table.
Tip: sketch first, then start coloring
A lovely way to begin is to do just as the sculptor does: think first about which colors go well together before the pencil gets to work. The stone block can stay in real shades of gray, or shine in sandy beige, pink, or even light blue, because on paper anything goes. The tools can gleam in bold rust-red or shiny silver, and the artist's clothing leaves room for warm earth tones or a cheeky splash of turquoise.
Just download the picture for free and print it out at home on A4 paper, nice and easy. Then it's time to: get the pencils ready, switch on the imagination, and decide together what this stone block is going to become.
