The Train Driver and the Sunrise: a Coloring Page Journey into the Light

What makes this picture so special is the mix of technology and nature. There's the train with its windows, rails and little details in the driver's cab, and at the same time a sky full of color gradients just waiting to be filled in. While coloring, kids can choose whether they'd rather tinker with the train or focus entirely on the sky. Both are fun, and in the end it all looks wonderfully atmospheric.

Tip: From Dark Blue to Warm Orange

A soft color gradient works especially well for the sky. At the top it can stay dark blue or purple, turning pink toward the middle, and right at the horizon a warm orange or yellow glows, exactly where the sun is rising. The train itself can be colored in bold red, blue, or even a cheerful green, whatever your child likes best. The train driver might get a smart dark blue uniform, paired with a cap in a fresh contrasting color.

If you like, you can even make up a little story while coloring: where is the train headed so early in the morning, and what is the train driver thinking as she takes in this view? You can download this coloring page for free and print it out at home on A4 paper, then the shared coloring time can begin.
