A little forest dweller: The tree stump with moss and beetles
The picture shows a cozy tree stump, covered in soft moss and surrounded by little beetles strolling across the bark. There's so much to discover: the growth rings in the wood, the round cushions of moss, and the pretty patterns on the beetles' backs. A perfect motif for little nature explorers with a crayon in hand.
Coloring idea: Working with dots and speckles
Various shades of green work wonderfully for the moss, from fresh light green to a rich dark green that looks like shadow. The beetles can be as colorful and eye-catching as you like, a ladybug in red with black dots looks especially great here. Warm brown tones are great for the stump itself, and the growth rings can be highlighted with a lighter pencil, which makes it look really realistic in the end.
If you like, give your imagination some room and make up a little story to go along with it: maybe a whole beetle family lives in this stump and is just getting a visit. You can download the coloring page for free and print it out comfortably at home on an A4 sheet. Then the next forest outing can start with crayons, no wet feet required.
