A griffin discovers the sea at low tide
Around our griffin, there's plenty to discover at low tide. Small puddles of water sparkle in the sand, seashells are scattered about, and maybe even a curious crab will dare to peek out of its hiding place. Your child can not only color in the mighty mythical creature here, but also design lots of beach dwellers and details in the sand.
Tip for the wings: conjuring up color gradients
The griffin's wings look especially lovely when you try a soft color gradient with colored pencils. Maybe start at the top with a strong brown or golden yellow and let the color lighten toward the bottom. The lion's body can then shine in warm sandy tones, while the beak can glow a bold yellow or orange. This creates a vivid mixed creature that looks as if it just leapt straight out of an old legend.
For the beach itself, soft beige and gray tones work well, while the receding water can be painted in gentle blue or turquoise. But your child is also welcome to invent a fantasy griffin, with purple wings or a pink mane, since with a mythical creature anything goes. You can download the coloring page easily and for free, and print it comfortably at home on A4 paper. Then all you need are some pencils, a cozy spot, and the little beach adventure hour can begin.
