Hopping Hearts: A Kangaroo with Baby in Its Pouch to Color
There's plenty for your child to discover here: the powerful hind legs that let kangaroos jump so high, the little front paws that almost look like hands, and of course the long, strong tail that helps with balance. The pouch itself with the curious baby also invites some extra-careful coloring.
Coloring Idea: A Touch of Australia on Paper
Kangaroos often wear a sandy grayish-brown, but who says it can't also be a cheerful orange or a warm reddish-brown, like the earth in the Australian outback? The belly and pouch can stay a bit lighter, creating a lovely contrast. For the background, soft greens work well for dry grass, or a rich blue for a wide sky under which the little family is on the move.
Maybe you and your child can come up with a little story together: where is the kangaroo hopping off to? Is it looking for a shady spot to rest, or on its way to see friends? Little imaginative journeys like these make coloring even more fun. You can download the picture for free and easily print it at home in A4 format, then the colored-pencil fun can begin.
