A little splash of color by the river: the kingfisher coloring page
In the coloring page, the kingfisher sits quietly on a branch above the water, keeping an eye out for small fish. Your child can color its feathers in bright, vivid colors, let the water waves below flow and sway, and maybe even add a few reeds or stones along the bank. There's a lot to discover, and even more to color in.
Tip: Blue and orange for a real eye-catcher
In real life, the kingfisher shimmers in a strong turquoise blue on its back and warm orange on its belly, that's its typical trademark look. Feel free to let your child experiment with different shades of blue, from light sky blue to dark petrol, it looks especially vibrant in the end. For the river, soft greens and blues work well, allowed to blend gently into one another, just like real flowing water.
If you like, you can even make up a little story to go with it: maybe the kingfisher is waiting for the perfect little fish for lunch, or showing its chicks how to dive properly. You can download the coloring page for free and print it out at home on a regular A4 sheet. All you need then are crayons or watercolors, and the little river bird can shine in the loveliest colors.
