The Mayflower sets sail: A coloring page for little explorers
There's plenty to discover in the picture: tall masts, billowing sails, a proud hull, and the ocean waves gently carrying the ship along. Kids can experiment with how a sail looks in the wind or what color the wood of an old ship might have been. There's certainly enough room for both little and big coloring artists.
Tip: Capture wind and waves with color
Light cream tones or a soft beige work well for the sails, just like real, aged fabric. The ship's hull can shine in warm brown, while the sea comes alive in various shades of blue, from deep navy to foamy turquoise at the wave crests. If you like, add a few seagulls to the sky or let the sun rise golden over the horizon.
Together you can come up with a little story about where the Mayflower might be headed and what it has on board. You can download the coloring page for free and print it comfortably at home on standard letter size, then the journey with crayons can begin.
