There's lots to discover in the picture: long flowing hair, sparkling fins, maybe a few curious fish watching the two of them, and surely some shells or starfish as little decorations. Your child can decide, just by choosing colors, which sister is the mischievous one and which is the calmer one. That turns a single coloring page into two little stories at once.
Coloring Idea: Sisters With Their Own Style
A nice approach is to give the two mermaids different color worlds. One sister could shimmer in warm tones like coral, pink, and gold, while the other glows in cool turquoise, purple, and silver. That way it's instantly clear that these are two distinct characters who still go wonderfully together. The water all around can also be colored with several shades of blue and a few bright highlights, which adds even more movement to the picture.
If you like, you can even make up a little story while coloring: maybe the sisters just had a swimming race, or they're collecting the prettiest shells together on the ocean floor.
