A sculptor shapes a face from clay
The many details are especially exciting: the sculptor’s hands gently working the clay, the figure’s facial features, and the tools on the worktable. As they color, your child can discover how a simple lump of clay slowly becomes a character with eyes, a nose, a mouth, and perhaps even curly hair. The artist’s apron, the stool, and the background are also waiting for their own colorful ideas.
Clay colors, tool marks, and a story to go with it
Warm shades of brown, beige, ochre, or terracotta are perfect for the clay figure. Of course, the emerging face can also be blue, purple, or green—after all, an art workshop has its very own rules. The sculptor’s apron could be decorated with little paint splatters, because with so much creativity, things rarely stay perfectly clean. Gray, silver, or brown can make the modeling tools stand out nicely.
You can make up a little story while coloring: perhaps the sculptor is creating a portrait of a famous person, or maybe a funny friend for the garden.
