There's plenty for your children to discover and color in here. The splashes of water as the whale surfaces are just waiting for color, as are the little fish swimming curiously by. The skin of the two whales, with its fine lines and patterns, also invites a closer look. A motif that shows closeness between a big animal and a small one, just like you sometimes experience at home.
Tip: Mix shades of blue like ocean waves
Try finding out together how many different shades of blue you can create. A dark midnight blue for the deep spots, a friendly turquoise for the waves up top, and maybe a soft gray for the whales' bellies. The calf can stay a bit lighter than its big companion, which nicely highlights the difference in size. If you like, add a few little white wave crests or let some sunbeams fall into the water from above.
