The Forest Ranger and the Secret of the Tree Rings
There's plenty for kids to discover here: the many fine rings in the wood, the gnarly bark around them, and of course the forest ranger himself with his gear. In the background, a few trees, maybe a squirrel or some mushrooms can be hinted at, bringing the whole forest to life. So there are plenty of areas just waiting to be colored in.
Coloring Idea: Counting from the Inside Out
A nice tip for coloring is to treat the tree rings like a little journey through time. The innermost ring can start out light, for example in soft yellow or beige, and moving outward, the colors get a bit darker ring by ring, until the outermost ring ends in a rich brown. This creates a lovely color gradient along the way, and your child can count out loud while coloring how many rings the tree might have.
The forest ranger's cap can shine in green or red, the shirt works nicely in warm plaid tones, and for the forest floor, different shades of green and brown work well, reminiscent of moss and earth. You can download this coloring page completely free of charge and conveniently print it at home on A4 paper – and the little forest research adventure with colored pencils can begin.
