The Gnome with a Lantern in the Mysterious Tunnel
Your child can add color to the rough rocks on the tunnel walls, the curved entrance and, of course, the glowing lantern. Perhaps a treasure, a cozy gnome home or just an especially fat earthworm who is out for a walk too is hiding around the next bend. The many areas invite little artists to bring their own ideas to this underground scene.
Warm Colors for a Light in the Dark
Yellow, orange and a little red edging look especially lovely for the lantern. The tunnel, on the other hand, can be gray, brown or dark purple. If you like, your child can color lighter stones around the light: this makes it look as though the lantern is really lighting the way. The gnome looks especially cheerful with a green, blue or red pointed hat.
Perhaps you can make up a story together while coloring about where the gnome is headed. Is he bringing someone a message, looking for his lost glove, or does he simply want to check that everything is all right once more before dinner?
