A mermaid who shows the storm who's boss
There's plenty to discover here for little artists. The mermaid's long hair blows wildly in the wind, her scales probably sparkle mysteriously, and in the background the waves tower up like little mountains. There's room for calm shades just as much as for bold contrasts, depending on how stormy your child wants to make the picture today.
Tip: From deep blue to foaming white
A lovely approach is to color the sea in several shades of blue, from dark midnight blue below to light turquoise at the surface. The spray on the crests of the waves can stay bright white or shimmer with a touch of silver. The mermaid herself is perfect for dazzling colors, green, purple or pink for the scales, plus maybe red or blonde hair that stands out against the raging sea.
Anyone who likes can tell a little story along the way, perhaps the mermaid is even singing the storm into being because she simply loves the roar of the waves. Download the picture for free and print it out at home on a regular A4 sheet, then the shared coloring afternoon can begin.
