A frosty mermaid snuggles beneath sparkling ice floes
What makes this picture special is the contrast between the mermaid's warm scales and the cool, jagged ice floes above her. There's plenty to discover: little schools of fish, delicate air bubbles, and of course the mermaid's long, flowing hair, just waiting to be colored in the prettiest shades.
Coloring idea: Icy cold meets warm colors
A nice trick when coloring is to keep the ice floes in cool tones like light blue, turquoise and white, while the mermaid herself shines in warm colors like pink, purple or bright green. This creates a lovely contrast that gives the picture real depth. Your child can also add little sparkly dots to the ice with colored pencils, it instantly looks even more wintery.
If you like, tell a little story to go along with it: maybe the mermaid is exploring what it feels like when the sea freezes over in winter, and finds herself a cozy spot beneath the ice floes to watch the fish swim by. You can download the coloring page for free and print it out comfortably at home in A4, then the cozy coloring afternoon can begin.
