Tip: lighter for distant mountains, darker for nearby ones
A lovely trick when coloring mountain panoramas is to play with depth of color. The peaks far in the back can stay soft and light, almost as if wrapped in mist, while the mountains in the foreground can be bolder and darker. This naturally creates a sense of vastness on the paper. Blue and grey tones work wonderfully for the rocks, green for the valleys, and a warm yellow or orange for a sunset behind the peaks.
