The sei whale glides calmly through the sea
What makes the sei whale so special is its slender, elegant shape and the small dorsal fin that sets it apart from other whales. Your child can color in the big body, paint little waves around it, and maybe even invent a few fish or bubbles to add. So there's plenty of room for their own ideas.
Coloring tip: shades of gray with a surprise
In real life, sei whales are usually dark gray to bluish, with a lighter underside. That makes for lovely transitions when you press harder or softer with crayons or mix different shades of gray and blue. But the whale is just as welcome to turn turquoise, purple, or rainbow-colored, after all, it lives in a make-believe sea on paper. For the background, soft blues and greens work nicely, along with maybe a few seashells or a bright sunny spot over the water.
