The Sphinx on Her Sandstone-Colored Throne
There's a lot to discover here for little artists. The powerful lion paws, the mysterious face, and the decorated throne offer plenty of space for coloring. The pattern details in the sandstone also invite kids to look closely and get started with pencils or paints.
An Idea for Golden Desert Colors
How about making up a little story together with your child? What might the sphinx be thinking while sitting there on her throne? For the coloring, warm earth tones work especially well: sandy yellow, soft beige, or a warm orange for the throne, plus maybe a bold blue or turquoise for small decorations that shimmer like gemstones. The sphinx's fur or stone body can shine in soft gray or warm brown – just the way your little artist likes it.
You can download the coloring page for free and print it comfortably at home on standard letter size. All you need then is some crayons, a cozy spot at the table, and the little journey to ancient Egypt can begin. Maybe the sphinx will turn out to be the most colorful guardian the sandstone has ever seen.
