Your child can discover and color quite a few things here: the mermaids' long, flowing hair, their shimmering tails, maybe a few seashells in their hair, and of course the sparkling water all around. So there's plenty of room for imagination and your own color ideas.
Tip: Create a real ocean feel with color gradients
A lovely trick when coloring mermaid tails is a soft color gradient. Start with a light turquoise at the top and gradually darken it toward the bottom, almost into violet. It looks like real shimmering scales and is so much fun to try out. The hair can happily shine in red, blue, or even green, since under the sea, as we know, the rules aren't quite as strict as they are on land.
If you like, you can even make up a little story about what the two of them might be singing about. Maybe about a lost treasure, or simply because the weather in the sea is so lovely today.
