A Striped Picnic: The Zebra Grazing in the Shade
What makes this picture so lovely are the many details waiting to be discovered. There are, of course, the typical black-and-white stripes that run like a pattern over the whole body. Then there are the blades of grass on the ground, maybe a few leaves providing shade, and the wide sky in the background. So there's plenty for little artist hands to do, from delicate stripe lines to generous open spaces.
Tip: Stripes first, surroundings after
A little trick for coloring: let your child add the zebra's black stripes first, this gives the animal its typical shape early on. After that, imagination can really take off with the surroundings. The grass can be shaded in different shades of green, from bright spring green to dark forest green in the shadows. The sky can glow in soft blue or even warm evening colors, whatever feels right at the moment.
If you like, tell a little story along the way, maybe the zebra has just finished a long walk across the savanna and is now taking a well-earned break. You can download this coloring page for free and easily print it at home on A4 paper, then the shared coloring time can begin.
