Through the Desert: A Girl and Her Water Jug
What's especially lovely about this picture is the mix of a calm desert scene and exciting detail. Your child can color in the wide sand dunes, make the sun shine bright in the sky, design the girl's colorful dress, and of course not forget the all-important water jug. They might even spot a few little stones or distant palm trees on the horizon.
Coloring idea: A desert full of color
Even though deserts are often imagined in yellow and brown tones, there's plenty of room for imagination here. How about a bold orange for the sand at sunset, a deep blue for the sky, or a bright red for the girl's dress? The water jug could glow in warm terracotta, just like real jugs made of fired clay.
Give your little artist free rein and come up with a story together: Where is the girl bringing the water? To her family, to the animals, or to a secret desert garden? You can download the picture for free and print it out at home on a standard sheet of paper. Grab the crayons and get ready for a little adventure at the kitchen table.
