A Mysterious Ride: The Mermaid Rides Through an Underwater Cave

What's especially lovely about this picture are the many details just waiting to be discovered and colored in. There are sparkling rock formations, mysterious beams of light falling through the water from above, and of course the mermaid herself with her long fin and flowing hair. Your child is completely free to decide whether the cave should glow in a dark, mystical way or shine bright and cheerful.

Tip: Play with light and shadow

A lovely idea is to keep the beams of light in the cave especially bright, almost white, while coloring the rocks and shadows in darker blue or purple. This creates a wonderful contrast that really brings the scene to life. The mermaid's fin can shimmer too, try green, turquoise, and a touch of purple side by side for a look just like real fish scales.

If you like, you can even make up a little story about where the journey through the cave leads and who might already be waiting there for the mermaid. You can download the coloring page for free and print it out at home, ideally in A4 format, so it fits perfectly in any pencil case and on any kitchen table. Grab the crayons and dive together into this little underwater adventure.
