When the Pyramid Admires Its Reflection in the Nile

What makes this motif special is the reflection itself. Up top, the clear, angular pyramid with its straight lines, and below, the rippling mirror image in the water, which can be colored in just like the original. Your child gets to work on two pictures at once, discovering how one image becomes two as soon as the water joins in.

Tip: Firm on top, wavy below

A lovely trick for this picture is to color the pyramid up top with bold, straight strokes in warm sandy yellow or ochre brown, while the reflection in the water is colored with lighter, flowing lines in a brighter shade. That makes the water feel so much more alive right away. The sky above can glow in rich blue or soft pink, depending on whether you want to paint midday sun or evening. For the Nile itself, different shades of blue and green work especially well, perhaps with a few lighter streaks for the little light reflections on the water. If you like, leave a bit of the riverbank in warm beige for the sand, and the little Nile story practically tells itself. You can download this coloring page for free, no fuss at all, and print it out at home at your leisure, ideally in standard A4 size. Then all you need to do is get the crayons ready and dive together into the world of pyramids and the Nile.
