The Sphinx stands guard between mighty columns

The Sphinx has the body of a lion and a human face – a particularly exciting combination. Your child can discover her strong paws, curved wings, headdress, and the decorations on the columns. There is plenty of room between the lines for their own ideas: Are the columns made of pale stone, golden sandstone, or perhaps a truly magical material? The ground and sky can have a fitting backdrop too.

Sand colors, a starry sky, and a secret riddle

Warm shades of brown, beige, and gold are wonderful for the Sphinx, while the columns can shine in grey, cream, or ochre. A deep blue sky makes the picture mysterious, especially with little yellow stars above it. If you like, color an orange and pink sunset behind the columns – even a stern guardian will look a little friendlier that way. You can download this coloring page for free and print it at home on A4 paper. While coloring, your child can imagine what riddle the Sphinx asks. Perhaps it goes: “What has four paws, two wings, and urgently needs a colorful mane?” The answer is, of course, quite simple: this Sphinx, once she has been fully colored in.
