Volcano Crater from Above Coloring Page

Dear parents, imagine being able to fly over a volcano like a bird and look straight down into its crater. That's exactly what you and your children get to experience with this coloring page. The bird's-eye view shows the crater in its full round shape, with cracks in the rock and an exciting opening in the middle, where you can imagine smoke or lava rising.

A look into the bubbling volcano crater

For children, this unusual perspective is especially fascinating, since you never normally get to see a volcano this way. While coloring, they can design the outer rim of the crater, highlight the different layers of rock, and of course make the centerpiece in the middle glow. There's a lot to discover and even more to imagine.

Little tip: Color from the outside in

It's best to start at the outer edge of the crater and work your way inward. This naturally creates an exciting transition from cool rock to hot lava. Gray, brown and green tones work well for the outer rocks, while the center can shine in bold orange, red or yellow, as if the earth itself were glowing right there.

If you like, you can even make up a little story to go along with it: maybe the volcano is sleeping deeply right now, or it's quietly bubbling away and sending up a little puff of smoke every now and then. You can download the picture for free and print it out comfortably at home on A4 paper. Then the crater can be brought to life with colored pencils, crayons or felt-tip pens, just the way your children like it.
