Rhino Baby with Mother Coloring Page

So glad you stopped by! This coloring page shows a clumsy little rhino baby snuggling up close to its mother. It's exactly this familiar togetherness that makes the picture so special, because it tells a story of closeness and comfort without any words at all. Children recognize this feeling right away, even though they're not rhinos themselves.

A rhino baby right next to its mom

Take a closer look and there's plenty to discover. The wrinkly skin with all its little folds invites plenty of coloring, as do the tiny horns that are just starting to grow on the baby. The background, too, with a few blades of grass or a little watering hole, can be brought to life. That way a simple picture turns into a small savanna scene.

Tip: Gray skin doesn't have to be boring

Many kids automatically reach for gray when it comes to rhinos, but this is a great place to experiment. A warm grayish-brown for the mother and a slightly lighter gray for the baby create a lovely contrast. If you like, dab a few light highlights onto the rounded shapes with a lighter pencil, this really makes the animals pop out in 3D. Rich ochre yellow or a dusty brown work well for the ground, and if you'd like to invent a little story to go with it, imagine where the two of them are headed, maybe to a watering hole or just for a cozy stroll.

You can download the coloring page for free and print it out at home on A4 paper. All you need then are some crayons, a cozy spot, and the little rhino family is ready to be colored in.
